Smith Durogene’s photography is defined by a deep sense of intimacy, capturing the essence of his subjects and surroundings. His approach is rooted in connection, honoring each subject with respect and sincerity.
More than just a photographer, Durogene is an artist whose work spans from fine art to contemporary expression. In 2022, his unique eye and storytelling ability earned him an Ellie’s Award from Oolite Arts for his series Here Today, Gone Tomorrow, which powerfully documented the impact of gentrification on South Florida’s landscape.
Durogene’s work has been featured by a range of prominent brands and publications, including Bugyore, Casa Tua, Viceland, Felt, Flare, 8&9 Clothing, Rolling Loud, Overtime, PSA DAILY, Marshmello Music, Mass Appeal, Ink’d Magazine, Miami New Times, Ocean Drive Magazine, The Source XXL, and Aint-Bad Magazine.
Growing up in a Haitian household in Broward County, Durogene discovered his passion for photography at 15—a pursuit that became a defining part of his life. For two decades, he immersed himself in learning all elements of photography alongside his peers. Today, his style is more story-driven than ever, focusing not only on capturing a perfect image but on conveying the narrative within each frame.
Durogene is also deeply committed to giving back to the community that shaped him. Through his photography workshops, he aims to share his knowledge and passion with aspiring photographers, offering them tools to hone their craft and discover their own voice. These workshops not only provide technical insights but also foster creativity, collaboration, and connection—values Durogene holds at the core of his work.
